Market analysis of the use of NaCl tablets for regeneration of ion exchangers in the Czech Republic |
|
---|---|
Completion: | 2000 - 02 |
Target markets: | CZ |
Objective: | Our task was to prepare a market research report addressing the following agenda as specified by the client: market size (estimated total demand/consumption), major importers/distributors of salt including place of origin, domestic manufacturers, major end-users, industrial segments with relevant consumption, price of imported salt as well as appropriate licensing, certificates, conditions and legislation. |
Results: | Our findings show that in the Czech Republic, the salt market is covered by imports as well as domestic production (one domestic manufacturer of loose salt). Tablet salt is imported mainly from Germany, Poland and Austria. In 1999, total imports of industrial salt reached close to 150,000 tonnes. Our report also included a summary of the results of a survey of industrial sectors with relevant consumption of salt for regeneration. Users of salt who use it in their heating systems are scattered throughout the economy (not limited to the industry), including practically all larger entities that are not connected to a central heating plant. Marketing tablet salt to this target group requires either an extensive campaign and promotion or cooperation with specialist companies that sell and repair heating systems and boilers. We also provided a listing of several major specialists in water treatment who sell salt together with water treatment technologies and who constitute a convenient channel for small end-users. The leading distributors cover the entire country through several warehouses, deliver within several days and offer different types of packaging as well as volume discounts. |
